Re: The Church of the Sacred Heart, Riverstown

Dear Mr. Bell,

Further to our recent inspection on the above Church tower, we would like to thank you for inviting us to quote as follows:

  1. Rig necessary steeplejack equipment and cantilever scaffold in order to gain access to the whole of the bell tower.
    Price Euro 34,000.00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%
    (to erect and dismantle scaffold upon completion)
  2. Fig 1, Fig 2, Fig 3 andFig 4 clearly show the build-up of mosses, lichens and algae. Our recommendations for the removal and cleaning are to spray the bell tower with Microtech Biocide and in order to completely eradicate the growths and roots the solution to be left to work for a minimum of seven days. Thereafter, we would power wash the whole of the bell tower to remove dead growths, dust and debris.
    In order to further protect we would then apply a good quality water-repellent agent. The reason for this application is to stop the re-growth of the mosses etc.
    Price Euro 14,200.00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%
  3. Fig 3, Fig 4, Fig 5, Fig 6, Fig 7 and Fig 8 show the condition of the concrete sills and string courses. It can clearly be seen that large pieces of concrete have broken away and fallen to the ground. As also seen on Fig 5, Fig 6, Fig 7 and Fig8 there are numerous areas of loose concrete that are in a precarious position and could possibly fall.

    Our recommendations are to break away all loose concrete to the string courses and sills. Thereafter, treat all the exposed re-inforcing bars using a rust stabilising agent. Paint the re-bar with hammerite or equally approved and carry out concrete repairs with the use of fosroc high build system.

  4. There are numerous hair lire cracks throughout the tower. The majority of these will be repaired with the application of the said water repellent agent to stop further ingress of water. If any more severe cracks are found a concrete repair will be carried out.

  5. With reference to Fig 9 shows the water that is ponding at the bell level. We propose to install a drainage outlet.
    Price Euro 1,400.00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%
  6. Fig 10 shows the condition of the top of the access ladder. We propose to replace and re-fix this ladder.
    Price Euro 900.00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%
  7. Fig 11 and Fig 12 show the boiler house chimney. As can be seen by the photographs it is in a dangerous condition.
    We recommend to erect necessary scaffold or access equipment to carry out the following works. Fabricate and fit a stainless steel retaining band and repair the concrete cracks using the fosroc system.
    Price Euro 4,200.00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%
  8. Lightning protection to the tower to comply to B.S. 5551/1999 We propose to install two new down conductor tapes, two new earth electrodes, two new test points and a coronal tape.
    Price Euro 3,900.00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%

Lodging allowance - 6 weeks x four men Price Euro 4,800,00 plus Vat. @ 13.5%

The above prices include for site set-up, prelims, insurances and health and safety.
Upon completion all scaffold and equipment will be removed and the site will be left clean and tidy.
